Q. Once I place my order, for a Protecton or Protection + DNA kit how long will it take to receive my order?
A. After payment is received it will take up to 5 working days for you to get your Equipment Register marking kit. Often it is much quicker.
Q. What makes the Protection kit so secure?
A. The TESA material used for the asset labels in the Protection kit has an extremely high-tac adhesive making it ultra-durable. It is resistant to temperatures of -50C to 200C, tampering, abrasion, chemicals and weather, and is ideal for indoor and outdoor use.
Q. What is the benefit of the SelectaDNA forensic marking solution included in the Protection + DNA kit?
A. SelectaDNA forensic marking solution contains a unique DNA code. The solution also contains thousands of microdots which allow Police to identify property at the scene in a matter of seconds. UV tracers are incorporated in SelectaDNA to make it easy for Police to find property that has been marked.
Our DNA is tested to PAS 820 and our Grade A External ranking is the highest in the industry. Even when applied outdoors it will protect your property for at least 5 years.
Q. How long will my assets remain on the database?
A. All the details will be held on the database for the lifetime of the asset.
Q. Does that mean it is a one-off payment, with no annual charges?
A. Yes, that’s right. Equipment Register does not charge you for amending your details, adding photos or transferring ownership.
Q. How can my assets be identified as mine?
A. Police can identify an asset in one of three ways:
1. The Serial Number which appears on most pieces of equipment
2. The unique Equipment Register Asset ID included in the Protection and Protection + DNA kits
3. The unique SelectaDNA Forensic code included in the Equipment RegisterB Protection + DNA kit
Q. How can I upload a photo of my assets?
A. Photo uploads are free and can be added on in your account section. In order to upload a new photo, you first need to login to your account, search for the asset you would like to add a photo of and click on the 'Edit' button. Now use the form to upload your photo.
Q. How can I order another Protection or Protection + DNA kit?
A. Purchasing a new marking kit is a simple process. Simply login to your account, add the relevant kit to your basket and follow the checkout process. We will automatically produce the next range of sequential IDs, unique to your account.
Q. How can I transfer ownership of one of my assets?
A. In order to transfer one of your assets, simply login to your account, search for the asset you wish to transfer and click on the 'View' button. Now click on 'Change Status' and from the dropdown, select 'Sold'. Now enter the details of the new owner and submit the form.
Q. How can I update the status of one of my assets?
A. To change the status of one of your assets to stolen, lost or recovered, you first need to login to your account. Next, search for the asset you wish to transfer and click on the 'View' button. Now select the relevant option from the dropdown list and fill out the remaining details and submit the form. To mark the asset as recovered, choose 'In Situ' from the dropdown.
Q. What if my asset doesn’t have a serial number?
A. In order for your asset to be effectively protected, you need to provide as much unique information as possible. We recommend you provide the serial number, particularly for free registrations, otherwise it will be difficult to find your asset on the system. If you have no frame number, we recommend our Protection Marking Kit as a minimum level of cover.
